The Colossus of Rhodes, also known as the Colossus of Helios, was a 107 ft. (30 m.) statue of the Greco-Roman Sun God, Helios (Apollo). It was constructed to celebrate Rhodes' victory in the Siege of Rhodes in 305 - 304 B. C. After Alexander the Great died, fighting had broken out between his generals. Rhodes sided with Ptolemy, and formed an alliance with Ptolemaic Egypt when Ptolemy took Egypt.

The Kheops Pyramid is the one in the back which look smallest, but it isn't the smallest it's just built on a lower plan. I'm sorry it's not a better picture regarding composition, but I couldn't walk away from my group and we had limited time.

It's one of the 7 wonders of the ancient world. It's also the only wonder which still stands to this day! The Kheops pyramid was built for king Khufu and it is the oldest and biggest pyramid of the ones in Giza. King Khufu is said to be a tyran and he didn't leave any other things to remember him from. The only 'portrait' we have left of him to this day is a 7cm high statue which is in The Egyptian Museum in Cairo. It's really small I have seen it and you can't imagine that he didn't leave any other monuments, but I guess it doesn't matter his name is imortal with the largest monument of the world his Pyramid.

I had to do a report on this in sixth grade...ah...those were the days...I completely overdid myself...it took 2 weeks and I had many cuts on my fingers from the wires. Ow...I still have the scars. Anyway, as I have said countless times...I WISH I COULD GO TO EGYPT!!! WITH A CAMERA!!! THAT WORKS!!!! AND TAKES GOOD PICTURES!!! NOT LIKE THE CRAPPY ONES I TAKE!!! OH YEAAAAH!!!

I am starting to write another nonsense song I do in my spare ((spare...?)) time...called..."I WISH I WAS FROM EGYPT". ROCK ON!!!

It would have been really awesome if you could have gone inside or climbed on them or something...I would kill to do that, or even just eb in Egypt for that matter.

you are not allowed to climb on them. It's partly because of the security, but also because it could destroy some of the stones. Just imagine 7 million tourists each year all wanting to climb it. I have actually wondered if I should submit this to a contest.
